Kidnapping – 3400 Block of O Street NW

Dear Members of the Georgetown University Community,
At approximately 11:30 this morning, GUPD was made aware that on Thursday, January 26, 2017, at approximately 3:20 pm, a suspect forced the victim, a Georgetown University student, into a vehicle and drove away.  According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the suspect made several attempts to force the victim to withdraw money from automated teller machines (ATM) and make large purchases at retail locations, both in the District of Columbia and Maryland. The suspect and victim are known to have been in the 4500 and 5400 blocks of Wisconsin Avenue, Northwest.

The suspect is described as white male in his late 30’s to 40’s, 5’9’’-6’0’’ tall, with a medium build, dark colored hair, dark colored mustache, and beard.  He was last seen wearing a black suit, black shirt, gray necktie, and black shoes.
The suspect’s vehicle is described as a light gray or silver colored sport-utility vehicle (SUV) or crossover style four door of an unknown make or model.
GUPD is coordinating with Metropolitan Police Department to increase patrols in the area.

The Metropolitan Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division seeks the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the suspect in connection with this kidnapping. The Georgetown University Police Department is requesting that anyone who has information regarding this or any other incident(s), or who noticed any suspects before or after the incident, to contact The Metropolitan Police Department Second District Station at 202-715-7300, or the Detectives Office at 202-730-1903, or the Command Information Center at 202-727-9099 immediately. They may also contact GUPD at (202) 687-4343.

  • Walk in groups or with a friend;
  • Walk along well-lit and well-travelled routes both on and off campus;

  • Lock your residence doors, both on and off campus.

The Georgetown University Police Department makes broadcast notifications when crimes posing a threat to the campus community are reported to GUPD or (MPD), in a manner consistent with the Campus Security Act. The University uses its best efforts to provide information that is both accurate and helpful, but community members should recognize that the University is able to relay information only as it is reported to GUPD and/or MPD.
