Download ApplicationStudent Guards play an integral role in protecting the campus community. They supplement security guards at the entrances to some residence halls and other facilities to help maintain security and enforce building access policies.
On the main campus, approximately 50 Student Guards assist the Georgetown University Police Department in controlling access to LXR, New South, Reynolds, McCarthy, Kennedy and Lauinger.

Student Guards assist GUPD by driving SafeRides vans seven nights a week. Student Guards also answer LiveSafe and phone SafeRide requests Sunday through Wednesday. The campus shuttle dispatchers manage this task on Thursdays and Fridays.
Student Guards are trained each semester. They do not have arrest powers but work with officers in the Georgetown University Police Department to identify potential problems and respond to incidents that may arise.
