Student Guards

Student Guards play an integral role in protecting the campus community. They supplement security guards at the entrances to some residence halls and other facilities to help maintain security and enforce building access policies.

On the main campus, approximately 50 student guards assist the Georgetown University Police Department in controlling access to LXR and Lauinger Library.

Student Guards assist GUPD by driving SafeRides vans 7 nights a week. Student Guards also answer LiveSafe and phone SafeRide requests Sunday through Wednesday. The campus shuttle dispatchers manage this task Thursday though Friday.

Student Guards are trained each semester. They do not have arrest powers but work with officers in the Georgetown University Police Department to identify potential problems and respond to incidents that may arise.

The Student Guard Office is located in Reiss 443. Any further questions may be directed to the Student Guard Office at studentguards@georgetown.edu or by phone at 202-687-2645.
